About Me
Hi! I’m Orla….
Hi, I’m Orla Urquhart. I’m a Children’s Occupational Therapist (OT) with a passion for helping children build confidence, connection and joy through day-to-day play and sensory experiences. If you’ve found yourself worrying about your child’s sensory experiences, play skills or confidence, you’re not alone - and I’m glad you’re here.
I’m an Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner, Certified Trauma-Informed Developmental Care Practitioner, and Clinical Specialist OT with 20 years experience working with babies and children, from birth in neonatal care, through to pre-school, primary school-age and beyond. I also support therapists and other professionals as a Clinical Mentor, Supervisor & Consultant, helping to nurture reflective and compassionate practice across our profession.
With an MSc in Sensory Integration, and experience working in the USA, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, I bring global experience to understanding how each child’s sensory and emotional world shapes their development. Alongside my day-job as a paediatric OT manager, I work for Sensory Integration Education as a mentor on their post-graduate courses, and with Sheffield Hallam University as an Associate, to support students through their MSc journey.
At Orca OT my goal is simple - to help children, families and professionals navigate challenges, celebrate progress and make meaningful waves in their everyday lives. Working with children and families is my passion.
